These images are the digital version of the facsimile edition of the Codex Argenteus from 1927. The digitizing of the facsimile edition and the assembling of the database were done by David Landau in 1998. The multimedia structure was erected with the help of Jarmo Toivonen in 2003. Both men were researchers at the Department of Information Technology in Tampere University of Technology, Finland. The digitizing project was supported by a grant awarded by the Niilo Helander Foundation (in Finnish).

Between 2004 and 2017 this online structure was situated at the server of Uppsala University Library. It was erected there by Lars Munkhammar, Ann-Sofi Cullhed, and Uwe Klosa.
